A Journey to the Heart of Matter!

On 21/04/2023 Friday, Prof. Stefan from Department of Chemistry hosted the conference “A Journey to the Heart of Matter” for the inauguration of Switzerland’s first Metaljet SAXS system (small-angle X-ray scattering SAXS) at the Department of Chemistry in Fribourg.

Distinguished and leading material scientists from academia and industry participated in the conference with their presentations. The conference aimed to foster a platform for exchanging ideas and knowledge on material science for health and food applications.

In the formal part of the symposium, our future rector Prof. Katharina M. Fromm introduced the recently established Food Research Center. The official inauguration of the SAXS instrument was done with miniature model, made of local Swiss Chocolate, along with prominent representatives of the Fribourg Canton; Nataly Viens Python, Director of the Haute Ecole de Santé, Laurent Dietrich, Vice-Syndic of the City of Fribourg and Sylvie Bonvin-Sansonnens, State Councillor.

The event continued with the tour of the laboratories and a warm welcoming Apero.
