Les tumeurs malignes dues à une exposition prolongée à l'amiante font partie des formes de cancer les plus agressives et l'issue est, la plupart du temps, mortelle. Les tout derniers résultats, obtenus grâce à la recherche sur la protéine calrétinine menée par le Prof. Beat Schwaller du Département de médecine de l'Université de Fribourg, ont mis en lumière des approches prometteuses dans la thérapie des mésothéliomes malins.
