Research fields

I am interested in socio-cultural risk factors and their contribution to the development and maintenance of a negative body image and a disturbed eating behavior in women and men. Current research projects focus on body-related cognitive distortions, which are triggered by body ideals in mass media  (e.g., fashion or fitness magazines or model casting shows). In addition we investigate the role of emotion regulation capacities in eating disorders and other mental disorders. In a new project, which is supported by the Swiss Anorexia Nervosa Foundation (http://www.anorexia-nervosa.ch/), we currently develop an online therapy for binge-eating disorder.

  • Seminar on eating disorders and obesity (classification & treatment)
  • Seminar on sexuality and sexual disorders (classification & treatment)
  • Lecture in classification, development and treatment of mental disorders (psychopathology)
  • Seminar in psycho-diagnostics, treatment evaluation and research in clinical practice
  • Co-supervision of bachelor and master thesis
