- PhD in Neuroscience
Open for students holding a Master in Biology, Biochemistry, Psychology, Physics, Informatics, Mathematics, or a diploma in Medicine. The degree requires attendance of a limited amount of lectures during the first year, as well as participation in the annual Postgraduate Block Course in Neuroscience, Neurobiology Seminars, journal clubs, and national and international conferences. The PhD is awarded jointly by the Universities of Fribourg and Bern via the Benefri program. - Postgraduate Block Course in Neuroscience
Open for registered PhD students in Neuroscience, postdoctoral collaborators and interested academic persons. According to the Benefri convention, it is held every year during one week in March, alternatingly at the Universities of Berne (uneven years) and Fribourg (even years). Its lectures and exercises are delivered by invited speakers and neuroscience faculty members of both Universities. It is an excellent means for in depth exposure to basic and current themes in neuroscience, as well as for a social get together. Please have a look at the previous 2000, 1999 or 1998 block courses.
- Neurobiology Seminars
Open for everybody interested in neuroscience. Held every second week during academic terms. Its lectures are delivered by invited speakers, often from abroad. They are followed by an open lunch in order to promote discussion with the speaker and among the participants. - 'Neurobiology im Nebenfach'
Studenten der Psychology and anderer Fächer der philosophischen Fakultät können Neurobiologie als Nebenfach wählen. Dieses Nebenfach dauert die vollen vier Jahre des Studiums bis zum Lizenziat und sollte im 1. Studienjahr begonnen werden. Die Vorlesungen und Praktika werden auf deutsch oder französisch angeboten. - Brain Awareness Week
This constitues a Europe-wide one week effort for promoting neuroscience at the local level. It is held every year in March and in Fribourg involves public lectures, school lectures, exhibitions, laboratory visits and newspaper articles. - Public lectures in neuroscience
Held during the academic year of 1998/99 following an initiative of the Rector of the University of Fribourg, these lectures were intended for students, members of the University and the public of the City and Canton of Fribourg. They were delivered in French or German in the Chemistry Lecture Hall (Perolles). Please have a look at the Lectures.
