Questions addressed
|
My main research topics cover interactions between the biomedical sciences and the arts, namely:
► a) representations of the physician both in the past and in the present (novels, painting, contemporary mass media) and their impact on doctor/patient relationships.
► b) Forms of medical communication in contemporary and historical contexts (ie medical case histories and scientific evidence, scientific poetry, narrative based medicine, communication in clinical encounters in an oncogenetics service, linguistic analysis of informed consent forms).
► c) Aesthetics and medicine (medical metaphors in literature, artistic representations of diseases, etc. from the 18th to the 20th century).
