Prof. Dr. Michael Ignaz Schumacher

Prof. Michael Ignaz Schumacher has been a full Professor in the Institute of Business Information Systems at the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland (HES-SO) since 2007. Previously, he held positions at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), where he was responsible for the FP6 European project CASCOM, and at the Robotics Institute in Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh (USA) as a visiting researcher. He has worked in project management in an international Swiss foundation committed in social investment. He holds a PhD and a MsC in computer science from the University of Fribourg in Switzerland. Schumacher’s research focuses on distributed information systems and artificial intelligence applied to healthcare.


Dr. Michel Kropf

Michel joined SICHH in 2014 and brings over 6 years of experience in the biopharmaceutical industry, managing either the business development & licensing activities or the intellectual property portfolio within a biopharmaceutical company. Michel holds a PhD in Life Sciences from the Swiss Federal Institute of technology of Lausanne (EPFL) and a M.Sc. in Molecular Biology from the University of Lausanne. In addition to his scientific education, Michel also graduated with a MBA from Hult International Business School in London and Shanghai.


Dr. Jeanette Wood

Jeanette Wood has more than 30 years of experience leading small molecule drug discovery teams in big Pharma and Biotech. She has scientific expertise is in the areas of oncology, inflammatory and cardiovascular diseases and her discovery expertise covers all aspects from target identification, validation and screening, through to biomarker development and scientific support to clinical trials. She is currently the CSO of Genkyotex in Geneva, Switzerland. Previous roles include: VP of Oncology small molecule discovery at AstraZeneca, Alderley Park, UK; Head of Biology S*BIO Pte Ltd Singapore; Head of Translational Pharmacology and Head of the Angiogenesis Platform at Novartis, Basel, Switzerland and Cardiovascular Group Leader at Ciba-Geigy, Basel, Switzerland. Jeanette obtained her PhD in Pharmacology at Otago University, Dunedin, New Zealand. She has served as an Adjuvant Professor at Universities in Switzerland, Singapore, Korean and New Zealand and is an author of numerous scientific publications and patents.
