Sino-Swiss Dialogue on Civil Law
The civil law of the People's Republic of China is heavily influenced by the civil law of the so-called German legal jurisdictions. Some influences also came from the Swiss Private Law. In honor of the 100th anniversary of the Swiss Code of Obligations, the Institute of Law (CASS) in Beijing and the University of Fribourg, Switzerland, are organizing a congress. The congress intends to bring forward the dialogue and mutual understanding for common ground and differences and enhance developments in major civil law concepts. Speakers will be from China and Switzerland. Invited are professionals from politics and legal practice (judges, lawyers and magistrates) and students from both law jurisdictions.
