Visit of a Group of Young Ukrainians at the Institute of Federalism

7 October 2013

On Monday October 7th, 2013, the Institute had the pleasure to welcome a group of young Ukrainians, the participants of the program «Young Generation Will Change Ukraine» supported by Bohdan Hawrylyshyn Charitable Foundation in Ukraine. They had a 2 hours talk with Dr Nicolas Schmitt, during which the issues of federalism both in Europe and Ukraine, both on practical and theoretical levels, have been discussed. As federalism is a priority topic for Ukraine and many speculations are being made on its base, it is important for young Ukrainians to grab knowledge and understanding from other federal countries.

The program «Young Generation Will Change Ukraine» is a great project of getting acquainted of young Ukrainians with the best countries and institutions of Europe in order to learn the successful experience of various states (organizations, companies etc.) in multiple spheres. The aim of their study trip to Switzerland was to explore and comprehend how to be successful and effective in a way of becoming the new elite of Ukraine.

All the participants were young active citizens, deeply interested in precise spheres of their competence. For instance, one of the participants. Mr. Roman Melnyk, took part in the conference on Decentralization and Democracy in St.Gallen in 2010.
