The collaborators of the Institute are part of various academic networks (e.g. informality in Eastern Europe, political elites in Eastern Europe, corruped networks in Eastern Europe).
The Institute is further engaged in development projects fostering research in Eastern Europe - namely the Caucasus and the Balkans.
Currently, the Institute manages two big projects in Eastern Europe: in the Balkans and the Caucasus. The Academic Swiss Caucasus Net (ASCN) focuses on Georgia and Armenia, and the (RRPP) program fosters Social Sciences in the Western Balkans.
