Doctoral Program in Mineral Sciences (DPMS)


The DPMS (Programme Doctorale en Sciences des Minéraux in french) aims to foster scientific quality and creativity in the field of Mineral Sciences and to promote mobility and soft skills competence.

The education and training offer comprises acquirement of scientific tools (mainly analytical methods), soft skills, and a broad scientific background.

The DPMS unites the doctoral students and senior teaching scientists of the traditional disciplines mineralogy, material sciences, petrology, biogeosciences, geochronology, and archeometry from the universities of Fribourg, Genève, Lausanne, Neuchâtel. It is open to other doctoral students and researchers from other fields and other universities.

COURSES AND MEETINGS

 

There are three basic categories of course activities within the DPMS:

  • (ME) acquiring scientific tools: courses on imaging, analytical and modeling techniques.
  • (SB) acquiring a broad scientific background: conferences on scientific topics of general interest in Mineral Sciences.
  • (SK) acquiring soft skills: oral and poster presentations given by the doctoral students, conferences and workshops on soft skills.
