Dehydration kinetics of the serpentine group minerals Water bearing minerals are ubiquitous on the Earth’s crust. The mechanisms behind the dehydration of such minerals are important mainly in the field of diffusion, dehydration induced Earthquakes and structure dependent phase transformation in general.
Some results will also play
an interesting role in the field of nanosciences, e.g. the production
of isolated nanowires. For this purpose I am currently using
high-temperature X-ray diffraction analysis, electron microscopic
techniques, various spectroscopical methods and thermal analysis.
