My research focuses on taxonomy of Oligocene planktonic foraminifera and in particular of the genus Globigerinoides : from what ancestor does the radiation of this genus start, and what are its internal relationships?
Additional geochemical and isotopical analyses will be performed in order to understand the paleoenvironmental characteristics of the ocean during the selected time slices and – hopefully – to explain why such an « original » genus like the Globigerinoides appears exactly at that time and develops supplementary apertures …
I use a morphometric approach (on pore size and pore density of the
wall structures) whereas up to now taxonomy of these groups was based
on the general characters of the wall texture.
In addition to that, I love rocks, plants and books (because all of them try to talk to us about the mystery of the world).
