The main objective of my PhD thesis is to determine whether Roman double layered crucibles and moulds from different excavations in France, Switzerland and Germany are comparable concerning their usage and production.
One of the main goals of this work is to obtain detailed knowledge about the petrography and geochemical composition of the two layers. We want to gather information about burning temperatures and a possible multiple usage of the crucibles.
