SCHISTOSITE ET METAMORPHISME HERCYNIENS DANS LES ARDENNES LUXEMBOURGEOISES
Jon MOSAR Sci. Géol. Bull., 40, 3, p. 231 - 243, Strasbourg, 1987
Hercynian cleavage and metamporphism in the Luxemburg Ardenne

ABSTRACT - Lower Devonian rocks in the studied area show
a spaced slaty cleavage. The penetrativity of the rock clevage
depends on the relative percentage of quartz and phyllosicates
in the rock and its position with respect to the folds (limb or hinge).
The rock fabric, studied by means of optical microscopy and X-ray
texture goniometer, shows that the neoformation of white micas
and chlorites is mainly due to the development of the slaty cleavage.

This leads us to the conclusion that the archi- and
epizonal metamorphism, studied by the method of
ilite crystalinity, is contemporary with the
development of hercynian rock cleavage in the lower
Devonian rocks. Boudins from the type locality near
