geology

The research group in tectonics focuses on the understanding of tectonic processes related to the formation of mountain belts. Besides classic studies on the structural geology, we also use 3D modeling to understand the kinematic development of orogens.  One research direction concentrates on the 3D structure of the Swiss Molasse Basin between Prealpes, and in the Hegau-Bodensee area. One of our main objectives is to link seismicity to a regional kinematic model and understand the processes governing the basement-cover interaction.

A second major research focus is on the Greater Caucasus in collaboration with many partners, and with the object of establishing a new tectonic map. Further Research Projects (lien vers ma page recherche) ???? QUELLE PAGE !? include the tectonics of the Hercynian Ardennes and the geodynamics of passive margins and plate-tectonics (Tethyan and Atlantic domains).
