Teaching: Introductory and advanced courses in Geology and Geology of Switzerland/Alps; exercises (geologic maps and cross sections); and field-trips. Research: Initially on problems of Alpine flysch sedimentation and tectono-sedimentary melanges in the Swiss and French Prealps (supported by the SNSF and in collaboration with numerous Ph.D. students and postdoc researchers). Recently, new orientation on landslide problems (several theses and other studies supported by SNSF and external funds). Presently geologic mapping in the Prealps for the Swiss Geological Survey. Administration: Direction of the Institute of Geology since 1971.
