The first meeting of the Young Swiss Geomorphologists will be held from 10 to 12 September 2010 in the region of the Regional Natural Park (NRP) Pfyn-Finges (central Valais). During these 3 days, the integrative tool of land management that is a NRP, regional history, landscape management and natural hazards will be discussed with local experts. Field trips will focus on the periglacial and glacial forms in the wild Turtmann valley, as on the torrential system of Illgraben.

Newly created at the annual meeting of the SSGm 2009 in Olivone, the Swiss Young Geomorphologists Section aims to promote, enhance and exchange geomorphological knowledge between young researchers (BSc-, MSc- and PhD-students and PostDocs) working in the field of geomorphology or in areas close to it (interdisciplinarity).

Its committee is responsible for networking and organizing activities for young Swiss geomorphologists. Exchanges with similar groups from other alpine countries are also foreseen. These activities are intended to be an informal discussion platform in the form of excursions, scientific workshops or social events. The last main objective is to discover the diversity of the regional geomorphology of Switzerland.

La première Rencontre des Jeunes Géomorphologues Suisses se tiendra du 10 au 12 septembre 2010 dans la région du Parc Naturel Régional (PNR) de Pfyn-Finges (Valais central). Durant ces 3 jours, l’outil intégratif de gestion du territoire qu’est un PNR, l’histoire régionale du paysage ainsi que la gestion des dangers naturels seront abordés avec des spécialistes locaux. Des excursions nous emmèneront à la découverte des formes glaciaires du sauvage Turtmanntal et du système torrentiel de l’Illgraben.

Fraîchement créée lors de la réunion de la SSGm 2009 à Olivone, la section des Jeunes Géomorphologues Suisses a pour objectif de promouvoir, valoriser et échanger des connaissances géomorphologiques entre jeunes chercheurs (étudiant-e-s, doctorant-e-s et post-doctorante-s) actifs dans le domaine de la géomorphologie ou dans des domaines proches de celle-ci (interdisciplinarité).

Son comité est ainsi chargé d’organiser des activités visant la rencontre entre jeunes géomorphologues suisses et des échanges avec des sociétés similaires d’autres pays alpins. Ces activités se veulent être un espace de discussion informelle, telles des excursions thématiques, des workshops scientifiques ou des soirées de rencontre sous la forme de « social events ». Elles souhaitent également faire découvrir la diversité de la géomorphologie régionale suisse.

Das erste Treffen der «Jungen Geomorphologen der Schweiz» findet vom 10. bis 12. September 2010 in der Gegend des regionalen Naturparks Pfyn-Finges (Zentralwallis) statt. Während dieser drei Tage werden verschiedene Themen behandelt: Der regionale Naturpark soll von der Landverwaltung als «Werkzeug» gebraucht werden können, daneben werden die regionale Landschaftsgeschichte und der Umgang mit Naturgefahren mit lokalen Spezialisten diskutiert. Auf Exkursionen werden dazu die Gletscherformen des urtümlichen Turtmanntals und der Wildbach Illgraben entdeckt.

Die Sektion der Jungen Geomorphologen der Schweiz wurde an der SGmGTagung 2009 in Olivone gegründet und hat das Ziel, Kenntnisse von jungen Forschern und Forscherinnen (StudentInnen, DoktorandInnen und Post-Docs) im Bereich der Geomorphologie zu fördern sowie den Austausch und den Kontakt zwischen den jungen Geomorphologinnen und Geomorphologen zu intensivieren.

Der Vorstand organisiert hierfür Aktivitäten, die dies ermöglichen. Dazu wünscht man sich, dass auch Kontakte zu ähnlichen Gruppen in anderen Alpenländern geknüpft werden. Es sollen Aktivitäten wie beispielsweise Exkursionen, wissenschaftliche Workshops oder Abendveranstaltungen als «social events» stattfinden. Ebenso soll die regionale Vielfältigkeit der schweizerischen Geomorphologie entdeckt werden.
