The IRCC is a university based institution and places great emphasis on research. Currently, the research projects being carried out at the IRCC include doctoral dissertations, post doctoral research and research by guest researchers on several issues. The doctoral and post-doctoral students are affiliated with the Law Faculty of the University of Fribourg.

The IRCC conducts research in the following areas:

  • State organisation (Federalism/ Decentralisation/ Local Governance)
  • Comparative federalism
  • Democracy and good governance
  • Human rights and minority protection
  • Multiculturalism and Conflict resolution 

The results of our research work are regularly published in the form of the PIFF Series of Publications or as Working Papers (see Publications).
