If this paper can be survial, you deserve a formal acknowledgement.
For the first point, the <k> and <d> are used just for making a clear picture to readers. Even for scale-free networks, their average degrees present some information, for example, you can compare the maximal degree and the average degree to say how fat the tail can be.
For the second point, I think I have already said something in the manuscript. Actually, your suggestion is very relevant, and we have thought about it in the preparion of the manuscript. However, according to the definition, only if c_u is much larger than <s_o> the network is said to be of high clustering coefficient. Comparing with the random ensembles for both c_u and <s_o> could of course give more insight, but our paper is full of the length and I can not insert more materials. [more]
