DANS in collaboration with the IISH, and the VU Amsterdam is working on a project of the Computational Humanities programme of the KNAW “Census data open linked – From fragment to fabric – Dutch census data in a web of global cultural and historic information (CEDAR)”. The PhD project, titled “Linked Open Data curation model in social science history – the case of Dutch census data” will be supervised by Professor Frank van Harmelen (VU Amsterdam).

Doctoral / Post-Doctoral Positions in Economics initially for 3 years, starting May 1, 2011 (or later). The position might be extended for another one to three years pending positive evaluation. Suitable candidates will ideally have a sound quantitative training and a demonstrated interest in agent-based modeling or aggregation issues in economics and related fields. Familiarity with the concepts and methodology of statistical equilibrium modeling would be an enormous asset, thus candidates with a background in the natural sciences who are interested in socio-economic research are explicitly encouraged to apply.
