Current research

My main interests lie in agriculture-environment interactions, in the challenge of Rumex spp. for grassland systems and for farmers and in the capacity of Pyropteron spp. as biological control agent attacking roots of Rumex.  


My PhD thesis, provisorily titled “Bio-control of Rumex obtusifolius”, is part of the European project IWMPraise focusing on integrated weed management practices and their implementations. My thesis includes two parts:  the prevention of Rumex obtusifolius in grasslands by conducting a case-control survey on management and environmental factors limiting the spread of the weed and the biological control of R. obtusifolius by Pyropteron doryliforme and Pyropteron chrysidiforme. The thesis is conducted in collaboration with Agroscope and CABI Switzerland. I’m based at Agroscope Reckenholz.


During my master in agricultural sciences, I worked as a research assistant on a project to assess the evolutionary relationship between flight and olfaction in the gypsy moth Lymantria dispar.  This working experience raised my interest in the role of plant-insect interactions and the understanding of natural mechanisms such as chemical signaling.

During my internship at CABI center, I worked on different experiments involving herbivores as biological control to invasive weeds.  One of the projects was the biological control of Rumex spp. using sesiid moths.
