Admission Master of Law

Bachelor of Law – Fribourg / Switzerland

Students holding a Bachelor of Law from the Faculty of Law of Fribourg and continuing their studies are admitted to the Master of Law degree course without further formalities.

Students holding a Bachelor of Law from the Faculty of Law of Fribourg and interrupting their studies are admitted to the Master of Law degree course without further formalities. However, they must apply again at the University of Fribourg. Application procedures are carried out on-line on the Admissions Office’s website . The deadline for sent applications is April 30 for the autumn semester and November 30 for the spring semester.

Students holding a Bachelor of Law from any other Swiss university are admitted to the Master of Law degree course without further formalities. But they must apply at the University of Fribourg. Bachelor Switzerland (other subject) / Bachelor of Law (foreign university)

For students holding:
  • a Bachelor (or a equivalent qualification) in a subject other than law from a Swiss university or
  • a Bachelor (or a equivalent qualification) of Law from a accredited foreign university or
  • a Bachelor (or a equivalent qualification) in a subject other than law from a accredited foreign university, the faculty offers the «Master of Arts in Legal Studies».

In order to be admitted to the Master of Law degree, those students must apply for the elor of Law studies and after being accepted they can submit a recognition application to the Equivalence Committee of the Faculty of Law in Fribourg. The Committee will examine each dossier individually. Only credentials judged by the Committee as equivalent to certain courses of the ordinary Bachelor of Law studies IUR I, IUR II and IUR III will not have to be completed. After obtaining the regular Bachelor of Law of Fribourg, the Master of Law studies can be started.
