Formation «bilingue plus»

Bilingualism and intercultural competence- these are the goals of the formation «bilingue plus». The formation takes place on both a practical and a theoretical level. Since 2004 / 05 the University of Fribourg’s Faculty of Law offers students the possibilty to compliment their education through this formation, which is unique in Switzerland. The bilingualism that is already deeply anchored in the Faculty of Law’s formation is suppplemented. To this end, students complete an additional study and career oriented formation in their second language of study. Further, students are sensitised on the questions of multiculturalism and multilingualism. They will gain practical and theoretical knowledge on the relationships between multicultural communities, in which historic, cultural, political and social aspects are taken into consideration. The goal is that the students who complete this formation are able to speak and write effortlessly in their second language of study while working in administration or in business.

In order to be admitted to the formation, a language test is required as well as a personal consultation. For those who don’t pass the entrance test for the formation «bilingue plus», or fail in the formation, the possibility to complete the bilingual formation with the annotation «bilingual» exists. The possibility to begin directly at the diploma level exists. Information on entry requirements can be found on the homepage of the formation .

Study program:

A certificate «bilingue plus» can be earned after 2 years and after an additional year the diploma «bilingue plus». The certificate «bilingue plus» is earned during studies at the Bachelor’s level and the diploma «bilingue plus» is earned during studies at the Master’s level.

Cost:

The participants must pay CHF 500 per semester to help with the costs of this extra formation.

An Overview of the Requirements:

  • Entrance exam
  • A 2 – 4 semester formation with an extra workload of up to 10 hours per week in the second language of study. The formation includes specialised language courses as well as events dealing with history, politics, culture and society.
  • Written and oral assignments during the formation
