ERASMUS Programme (Life Long Learning Programme / LLP)

The Erasmus Programme is part of the European project « Life Long Learning Programme (LLP) » The aim of the project is to encourage the mobility of students throughout Europe, irrespective of their faculty. In the absence of a bilateral agreement with the European Union, Switzerland participates informally in the LLP / Erasmus Programme.

If you decide to study at a university that is a partner of the Faculty of Law at Fribourg you will benefit from certain advantages such as the assurance of financial help and care by the host university. Your visit will last one or two semesters without making you lose a year of study. The work accomplished at the host university will be recognised in a way decided by the Commission of equivalent academic qualifications.

Application procedure

Students registered at the University of Fribourg who wish take part in the Erasmus programme should have at least accomplished the first part of their studies (IUR II or an equivalent level). They should register at the Erasmus and International Relations Office of the University of Fribourg. The application form, application deadlines, and other useful information can be downloaded at « Links ».

When the registration has been accepted, the student will be announced at the host university and can then carry out the necessary administrative steps (registration at the host university, choice of courses, study contracts, etc.) and finally organize his/her own stay (accommodation, insurance, travelling, etc.).

Linguistic preparation plays an important role in the success of the study placement. The better your linguistic ability, the more rapidly you will feel at ease in your new environment.

Recognition of study achievements already accomplished

Students registered at the University of Fribourg should consult the information given by the Commission of equivalent academic qualifications and published in a document entitled « Recognition of examination results and work carried out in a foreign country and a summary of the principles established by the Commission of equivalent academic qualifications» available at the link « Recognition » in this section. The recognition of study achievements at the host university is subject to the approval of the Commission of equivalent academic qualifications, upon written request, after return from the study placement.
