The Alabama Exchange Program
Each summer, the Alabama Exchange Program (USA) gives the possibility, to a small group of students from Fribourg, to participate in a study placement at the Law School Alabama de Tuscaloosa, Alabama
Students follow about 10 hours of course work per week and an excellent knowledge of English is required. Students are exempted of the tuition fees and are given free accommodation. Travelling and daily expenses, however, must be covered personally by the participants. During the semester preceding the study placement, a group of students from the University of Alabama are received and study at Fribourg.
The Alabama Joint Offering
For the students from the Law School Alabama, during their stay in Fribourg, the Faculty organizes « Joint Offering Classes » which may be attended by all students including those registered in the Erasmus programme. The number of places available, however, is limited.

Application procedure
Students who wish to participate in the Alabama Exchange Program should submit their application of candidature to Prof. Dr. Hubert Stöckli, Lehrstuhl für Zivil- und Handelsrecht (Department of Civil and Commercial Law), Beauregard 13, 1700 Fribourg. Candidates will have to pass a test demonstrating their capacity in English. Recognition of study achievements
The study achievements of students from Fribourg within the framework of the Alabama Exchange Program and the « Joint Offering Classes », are validated as « Special Credits ».
Guest students should consult the requirements of their respective home universities.
