Faculty of Law Library
The library of the Faculty of Law is open to the public, and is used primarily for consultation; the borrowing of books for home-use is limited. The library holds various works in French, German, English and Italian. The library of the Faculty of Law in Miséricorde and the library of Canon and Ecclesiastical Law are combined. These libraries work together with the library of the Institute of European Law in Beauregard as well as the Public Law library (both the German and French departments) in Portes de Fribourg.
The law library is fully computerised and provides reference books, bibliographies, dictionaries, textbooks, yearbooks, statistics, monographs, periodicals, Swiss and foreign dissertations as well as CD-ROMs. Documents concerning all legal areas are available such as administrative law, canon and ecclesiastical law, civil law, commercial law, public law, social security law, labour law, European law, international private law, international public law, criminal law, Roman law, history of law, philosophy of law etc.
The library offers you work areas with a total of 439 workplaces, 82 of them equipped with a computer:
- 3 computer rooms equipped with 50 computers and 3 printers (copies can be bought from the IT officers, office 4028)
- 3 rooms for doctoral candidates and assistants with 37 workplaces, 13 of them equipped with a computer, and a fax.
- 30 workstations open for reservation for students writing their master thesis
- 1 work area for teamwork
- 1 room reserved for visiting professors with 3 workstations, 2 of them equipped with a computer
- 6 photocopiers, on of them in colours
- 1 workstation with access to the different Swiss catalogues open to those not enrolled at the faculty of law
- access to the holdings of the Library of Ecclesiastical Law (Room 4117)
- Beauregard: 1 reading room with 40 places (next to the Library of Literature)
