Bachelor and Master Courses

Teaching within the framework of CRESUF covers both the global as well as the regional issues.

Teaching organisation is by and large thematic (one sub-module is entirely devoted to European integration). The theoretical tools are presented in precise aspect and then systematically evaluated in the light of the facts and empirical studies available (it is in particular the object of the annexes, see the course program).

On a theoretical level, emphasis is put on new international trade and localization theories as well as on the theory of growth, without however neglecting the more traditional theories. These "new theories", which intuitions are sometimes old, shed new light on certain number of traditional topics which relate to the intervention of the authorities as regards commercial protection, international and regional convergence, the strategies of multinational corporations or, the effects of economic integration on the localization of the economic activities in space.

The empirical issues focus on the institutions, methods and data used: an economist (especially if one wants to be an adviser) cannot be satisfied only with raw facts (even if they are stylised), one must know and understand the limits of certain empirical results. For example, if one wants to examine if we observe the catching up of the "rich" areas by the "poor" ones, or if international financial integration accelerated in the 80s, then it is necessary to discuss the relevance of measurements as well as the data used, the latter having very often different theoretical bases.

The lecture in economic analysis of regionalization and globalisation is composed of four modules (two intended for Bachelor students, two last for Master students) which are complementary but can also be followed separately.

Module 1 is addressed to Bachelor students and covers the issues of international trade (winter semester) and international finance (summer semester)

Module 2: is addressed to Master students and covers the issues of the regional trade agreements as well as localization of companies in  space (winter semester) and European integration (summer semester).
