Frequently asked questions:
Are the Language Centre's courses open to everyone ?
The Language Centre is a service of the University of Friborug, so its courses are reserved for members of the academic community. However, students of a university of applied sciences, another university, or the academic track of a secondary school (secondaire II) have the possibility of taking a course to prepare for an internationally recognized certificate or diploma.
Is it possible to join a course during the semester ?
Registration is only possible in the first three weeks following the start of the semester.
I am not able to register for courses in the same language but at different levels. Why?
GESTENS only offers you courses at your language level (determined by the online test).
I have already enrolled at the University of Fribourg and paid my tuition a week ago, but I still do not have access to GESTENS. Why ?
Activating the GESTENS account may require up to ten days after receiving the tuition payment.
I have a problem with my GESTENS account / I forgot my password / I do not yet have an email account at the University of Fribourg. What should I do ?
Contact micromus.
I was not very concentrated when I did the online placement test. May I re-take it ?
No, only one attempt is allowed.
I finished the online placement test but have not received either my result or a message. What does that mean ?
The results are not provided. To register, all you need to do is to connect to GESTENS (of the Faculty of the Arts and Humanities). Only the courses that correspond to your level will be posted on your account.
I have a block course for the first three weeks of the semester. What should I do ?
Contact the course instructor to give the reason for your absence.
I cannot take a course at my level because I am not free at that time. What alternative do I have ?
You may either study on your own through the Self-access Centre or take a preparatory course for an internationally recognized certificate or diploma (at an additional charge).
What is "Moodle" and how does it work?
Moodle is a platform to create and manage courses online. Moodle provides a common area that allows you, for example, to access course resources, to communicate with the instructor and to submit exercises online. Information as to how to use Moodle can be accessed at the website http://moodle.unifr.ch.
