The Self-Access Centre for Foreign-Language Learning

The Self-Access Centre for Foreign-Language Learning offers self-study material and material from course programmes to students and personnel of the university for individual language study. (Opening hours)

The Self-Access Centre provides about 30 workplaces and the following pieces of equipment:

  • personal computers with Internet access, preinstalled self-learning material and the possibility to play CDs and DVDs
  • portable player-recorders for audio cassettes to train speaking and listening competencies
  • video workplaces, each with a connection to cable television

The material available to users includes audio and video cassettes, printed material for independent learning, language course books, CD-ROMs and DVDs with material on specialized language, and supplementary material for courses given by the Language Centre. The languages offered are German, French, English, Italian, as well as Spanish and a selection of about thirty other languages. (Guidelines for users)

With our online search mask in French or in German you may choose the self-study material adapted to your objectives and come to use it at the Self-Access Centre (lending is not possible).
 
With UniTandem we help you to find partners for interactive communication in pairs.
 
Exclusively for students who can have ECTS credits validated for their BA studies by completing a self-guided language-learning project, individual learning advice is offered to evaluate their specific needs and objectives as well as to establish a personal learning plan.

 

 

Foreign Language Library

The Foreign Language Library is not a lending library. Books and journals can normally only be used in the library. In exceptional cases, a loan is possible. In agreement with the library's secretary or the instructors, a maximum of three books may be borrowed over a weekend (Thursday morning to Monday morning).
