Current research

I am interested in plant evolutionary biology and its interface with chemical ecology.

My PhD project is focussed on the role of plant defence genes (and other genes involved in plant biotic interactions) in the origin and breakdown of reproductive barriers between Populus alba and P. tremula. I address this topic by studying the introgression behaviour of molecular markers linked to clusters of disease resistance genes in natural hybrid zones, and by studying the relationships between chemical traits (leaf secondary compounds) and plant genotypes in natural populations. I also plan to participate in a next generation sequencing project in the lab, which will allow me to study the role of candidate genes for ecological divergence in reproductive isolation and adaptive introgression in these forest trees.
