Proof of sufficient language skills

French and German are the official teaching languages of the University of Fribourg at the Bachelor level (English is used for certain master programmes) and are the languages used by the administration.

The University requires that future students in all study programmes have sufficient skills in French, German or English to be able to follow lectures and express themselves correctly, both orally and in writing, within the context of their university studies.

The required level corresponds to level B2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for languages established by the Council of Europe.

Foreign candidates for master programmes are not required to prove their linguistic skills, with the following exceptions:
