What are the deadlines for submitting an admission application?

Important information regarding the deadlines for submitting an application can be found by clicking on the following link:

The regular deadlines for submitting an application for admission are the 30th April for the autumn semester and the 30th November for the spring semester. There are no deadlines for doctorate and Postdoctoral studies and an application for admission may be submitted at any time.


Can I get information on the advancement of my application?

No information concerning the advancement of your dossier can be given by phone or by e-mail.


How long does it take to process my application?

It can take several weeks to process each student application.


Who do I have to contact if I have questions regarding the content or the organization of my studies?

If you have questions regarding the content or the organization of your studies, please contact the dean's office of the respective faculty.

 

Swiss diplomas

Bachelor

What documents do I have to hand in with my application?
A list with the documents that need to be submitted will be provided at the end of your online application. An indicative list with these documents can be found by clicking on the following link:

Do I really have to hand in the original diplomas and when will I get them back?
If you already have it, we kindly ask you to directly send us the original of your secondary II school leaving certificate. As soon as the admission procedure is finished we will send back the original diploma.


Master

What documents do I have to hand in with my application?
A list with the documents that need to be submitted will be provided at the end of your online application. An indicative list with these documents can be found by clicking on the following link:

Do I really have to hand in the original diplomas and when will I get them back?
Final registration is only possible once we have received the original bachelor diploma. We will ask you to hand in your original diploma at the time given. As soon as the admission procedure is finished we will send back the original diploma.


Doctorate/PostDoctoral studies

How can I find a supervisor for my doctorate?
If you wish to study for a doctorate or postdoctorate at the Faculty of Science, you should initially contact the Dean's Office at the faculty for information on the procedure to be followed. Additional Information can be found on the follwing link http://www.unifr.ch/science/fr/etudes/doctorat

How can I apply for a doctorate at the Faculty of Science?
In order to find a supervisor you will have to contact a professor who could be interested in your candidature and who is willing to supervise your thesis work. You can find the contact details on the web site of the respective faculty.

Final registration for a Doctorate is only possible once we have received the original Master diploma. For PostDoctoral studies we need the original diploma of your doctorate. As soon as the admission procedure is finished we will send back the original diploma.
 

 

Foreign Diplomas

Do I really have to hand in the original diplomas and when will I get them back?
Final registration is only possible once we have received the original diploma. We will ask you to hand in your original diploma at the time given. This means you do not need to send us your original diploma with your application, instead, you can send us officially certified copies. As soon as the admission procedure is finished we will send back the original diploma.

I have questions regarding the visa, who do I need to contact?
Please contact the appropriate Swiss diplomatic or consular representation in your country of domicile or the "Service de la population et des migrants" (SpoMi).

What is „proof of sufficient language skills"?

What is ECUS?
ECUS stands for „Complementary examination of Swiss universities".
When the foreign qualification for admission has only been partially recognized, candidates may be required to pass the Complementary examination of Swiss universities.
We strongly recommend candidates who obtain their diploma in summer 2015 to enrol for the next semester, as experience has shown that an admission to the autumn semester is usually not possible for time reasons.
